When I was a child I used to dream. Wild, livid...dreams. Not knowing that someday, my dream, not quite the way I dreamt it would come true.
I used to dream of falling from the sky, no fear in my heart, no parachute on my back, just freely falling.
I used to dream of living in this big open space where I had a lot of children but, we lived happily reminiscent of Mother Goses’s tale, "There was an old woman who lived in a shoe." There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.She gave them some broth without any bread;And whipped them all soundly and put them to bed. Unlike the tale I wasn’t whipping the children of my dreams (insert smile). Unlike my childhood dreams I don’t live in a shoe. I only have two biological children but, I have the Amazing Self Proclaimed Super Garden Kidz of Shalom and Tranquility Community Garden!

The Super Garden Kidz was formed during the 2021 season. Most of them have been on this journey with me since the beginning. They're neighbors, sibling groups, and friends. The kidz and I meet weekly during the growing season for a time of food, fun, learning, and growing. Summer of 2021 For the first time they had their own garden bed where they installed tomatoes, cabbage, watermelons, and more. Collectively we learned that tomatoes don’t grow well with watermelons. Watermelons take up a lot of space! Watermelons need a lot of time to grow and mature to full flavor. We also learned that we love to get down and dirty in the garden together!
In Whitney Houston’s song “The Greatest Love Of All” She stated and I quote… I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride….The greatest thing I’ve done is shown the Super Garden Kidz that Ms. Eb loves them. She cares about their future and she allows them to lead the way. Together we have created a place within our community that they can take pride in, And Believe Me They Do! Therefore, I’m a middle age woman that lives in the hood with so many neighborhood children, I don’t know what to do but, love them…It’s Amazing What Love Can Do!
